The ground rules for UpSolo's free tools — starting with the YouTube transcript generator — written so you'd actually read them.

What UpSolo is

UpSolo publishes free tools — starting with a YouTube transcript generator — that pull publicly available captions or auto-generated subtitles from a video link you provide. No account or sign-up is needed to use them.

The only thing we ask for is an email address if you choose to join the waitlist for tools still in build, like the Chrome extension. Using a free tool means you agree to these terms.

Content you submit

Video transcripts belong to the creator or rights holder who made the video, not to UpSolo. We don't claim ownership of anything a tool extracts — we just fetch and format text that's already publicly attached to the video.

—You're responsible for having the right to view and use the video you submit a link for.

—Using a tool doesn't give you rights to the underlying video beyond what YouTube and the creator already grant.

—Respect the source video's own license or terms when you reuse the transcript — a tool extracting text doesn't change who owns it.

Acceptable use

These tools are built for personal, everyday use — pulling a transcript to read, quote, or study from. Please don't use them to:

—Bulk-scrape or automate requests at a volume beyond normal personal use.

—Resell or redistribute extracted transcripts at scale as your own product or dataset.

—Circumvent YouTube's own terms of service or any technical restriction on a video.

—Abuse, overload, or attempt to reverse-engineer the service.

Plainly

Use the tools the way you'd use them yourself — one link at a time, for your own reading or research. We reserve the right to rate-limit or block usage that looks automated or abusive.

No warranty

Transcripts — especially auto-generated captions — can contain errors, gaps, or mistranscriptions we didn't introduce and can't always catch. Tools are provided "as is," without warranty of accuracy, completeness, or availability.

A tool can also be unavailable for a given video — for example if captions don't exist, or the video is private, age-restricted, or removed.

Limitation of liability

To the extent the law allows, UpSolo isn't liable for indirect or consequential damages arising from your use of a free tool, or for the content of any third-party video processed through it. You use these tools at your own discretion.

Changes to the tools & these terms

Free tools may change, move, or be retired as we build — this is an early, growing product. If we make a material change to these terms, we'll note it at the top of this page and email waitlist members about anything that affects them.
