Terms, without the fine-print maze

The ground rules for using UpSolo, its free tools, accounts and browser extension, written so you'd actually read them.

What UpSolo is

Our purpose

UpSolo builds tools around video transcripts to help people learn on their own: read along, take notes, review, quiz yourself. The words in a transcript belong to the video's creator. How you use a transcript, or anything made from it, is your responsibility, and UpSolo isn't responsible for that use.

UpSolo pulls the captions or auto-generated subtitles of a video from a link you provide, and lets you study from them. The free tools need no account. With an account you also get a library, AI study tools (summaries, flashcards, quizzes, mind maps, reports, the tutor and more), notes and highlights, and the UpSolo browser extension for Chrome and Edge.

Using UpSolo, with or without an account, means you agree to these terms.

Your responsibility for content

Video transcripts belong to the creator or rights holder who made the video, not to UpSolo and not to you. We don't claim ownership of anything a tool extracts: we fetch and format text that's already attached to the video.

—You're responsible for having the right to view and use the video you submit a link for.

—Using UpSolo doesn't give you any rights to the video or its words beyond what the platform and the creator already grant.

—How you use a transcript, and anything made from it (summaries, cards, quotes, exports), is your decision and your responsibility. Respect the creator's rights, the video's license and the platform's own terms.

—Publishing, selling or redistributing someone else's words is on you, not UpSolo. Quote and credit the creator; when in doubt, ask them.

Acceptable use

UpSolo is built for personal learning: pulling a transcript to read, quote, or study from. Please don't use it to:

—Bulk-scrape or automate requests at a volume beyond normal personal use.

—Resell or redistribute extracted transcripts at scale as your own product or dataset.

—Circumvent a platform's terms of service or any technical restriction on a video.

—Abuse, overload, or attempt to reverse-engineer the service, or get around credit or usage limits.

Plainly

Use UpSolo the way you'd use it yourself, for your own reading, study or research. We reserve the right to rate-limit, block or close accounts whose usage looks automated or abusive.

Accounts & credits

You're responsible for what happens under your account. Some actions (fetching a new transcript, AI generations) spend credits; the cost is shown before you click, and a failed action is refunded. Free credits, purchased credits and Pro plans work as described on your account page at the time you use them.

No warranty

Transcripts, especially auto-generated captions, can contain errors, gaps, or mistranscriptions we didn't introduce and can't always catch. Summaries, flashcards, quizzes, translations and everything else UpSolo's AI writes can be wrong or incomplete, so check anything important against the video. UpSolo is provided "as is," without warranty of accuracy, completeness, or availability.

A tool can also be unavailable for a given video, for example if captions don't exist, or the video is private, age-restricted, or removed.

Limitation of liability

To the extent the law allows, UpSolo isn't liable for how you use a transcript or anything generated from it, for the content of any third-party video processed through it, for errors in transcripts or AI-generated output, or for indirect or consequential damages arising from your use of UpSolo. You use UpSolo at your own discretion.

Changes to UpSolo & these terms

Tools may change, move, or be retired as we build: this is an early, growing product. If we make a material change to these terms, we'll update the date at the top of this page and email everyone with an account about anything that affects them.
